Well... I guess it's about time that I start a blog... I've been hearing for years, that, as a photographer in this day and age, you have to have a blog.. but I have never been one to follow the "path", choosing to go off in my own direction has been a lifelong characteristic.. but then I started thinking about things I tell people about when I am out photographing something, and thought, well, I could tell that to a lot more people in a blog.. so, here I am.

As I look back on this year, 2014, and the photos I have taken, it makes me smile to remember all the wonderful things that I have seen through a photographer's eye.. but what stands out in this year in particular was a moment that I put down the camera, and chose to just be "present" in the moment. When my younger daughter got married, I participated as only "the mother of the bride", and tried as well, to not be one of "those" guests.. anyone who has ever photographed a wedding will know what I mean! It was easier than I thought, considering in the last 800 weddings I've been to, I was the photographer, but it also taught me some things, as an observer... noticing moments that I might have missed if I had been behind the lens... I was aware of just how limiting that can be, and I think that that one experience will make me a better photographer in the upcoming year.
